In a nation as culturally and socially diverse as India, poverty is deeply entrenched in its system. One of the biggest reasons of this problem is illiteracy, which is highly rampant among the marginalized population and under-served community. Lack of access to education and shortage of skills inevitably results in unemployment. The two-way relationship between poverty and illiteracy ultimately affects the economy, productivity, and growth of the country

A foundation like The/Nudge is taking a unique and holistic approach to alleviate poverty and its underlying causes. Through an intensive 100-day residential program, where emphasis is given on experiential learning process, they aim to provide a well-rounded development of individuals.

To foster the noble cause of educating and employing the youth, Xebia has collaborated with The/Nudge Foundation to design an all-inclusive curriculum and learning content for their Gurukul Program.

Xebia will contribute its share toward eliminating illiteracy, eradicating poverty and uplifting the economy through a strong learning framework. The partnership will be conducive to growth and development and certainly create a strong identity among the youth through education and employment.

The Gurukul Program’s learning framework centers on three areas:

  • Life Skills
  • Adult Literacy
  • Livelihood Skills

Here is how this unique Gurukul Program life-cycle works:

  1. 100-day Full-residential program: Youth belonging to backward society or under-served community are brought together
  2. World-class Content & Experiential Learning: Xebia has created a strong learning content, designed curriculum that aligns with The/Nudge Foundation’s pedagogical ways.
  3. Job Placements: On completion of this 100-day program, the foundation assures the job placement of the individuals and making them ready for the world, whether in the role of Office Admin, Security Guards, Sales & Management, and other Group D roles)
  4. Life-long Assistance: To prevent such youth from falling back into poverty, the foundation is constantly assisted, supported and counselled and taken back into this 100-day program if needed until these graduates have saved 3 Lakh Indian rupees in their bank accounts.

Xebia’s collaboration with The/Nudge Foundation has brought about a rewarding outcome — more than 400 young men and women have graduated from Gurukuls and this has been the biggest graduation so far in the history of The/Nudge Foundation.
