First of all you need to understand the engineering mindset. To an engineer money is not the main motivator: it’s about challenge, safety, clarity, staying relevant, making a difference and being in an environment that does not impede.
Attracting and keeping your engineers means understanding what makes them tick. Remember that they are the makers. Offer them challenges and maintain their career. Help them build tomorrow’s product and support them in their search for elegance.
