Xebia Academy offers two different training paths to become a Scrum Master - Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Professional Scrum Master (PSM). Wondering which one to choose?

Both training paths provide a solid foundation in Scrum; its values, principles and the Scrum Master role. However, the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) training takes a slightly broader view; it looks at Scrum applications beyond a software development context. The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) training focuses primarily on software development.

Certified Scrum Master Training

After successfully completing the two-day CSM training, you’ll have 90 days (and two attempts) to take and pass the online exam to become a Certified Scrum Master. Certification gives you access to a renewable, two-year membership with ScrumAlliance. And, as a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), you can continue your educational development to become a Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Team Coach (CTC), Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC) and Certified Scrum Trainer (CST).  Read more about certifications on the ScrumAlliance website.

Professional Scrum Master Training

After successfully completing the two-day Professional Scrum Master training, you’ll receive a password for PSM I assessment, and a PSM II assessment password at a discounted price. The passing score for the PSM I assessment is 85%. Should you, in any case, need to retry the assessment then Scrum.org offers a free second try. Scrum.org maintains a public list of all certified PSM I and PSM II holders. The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification does not expire and you can continue your educational development to become a Professional Scrum Practitioner (PSP) and Professional Scrum Expert (PSE). Read more about certifications on the Scrum.org website.
